Chocolate Hills

Hello My Dear Great Ones,
Celia and I visited the "world famous," Chocolate Hills on Bohol Island in the Philippines recently.  It was definitely a worthwhile trip .

A rather dubious explanation of how the Chocolate Hills were formed.   I think it is more to do with plate tectonics and mini volcanoes.

The drive into the Chocolate Hills was impressive.

One of the Chocolate Hills was carved up into a viewing platform.

The views from the top are impressive...

A very worthwhile excursion.

Have a great week.

Love adios and ping on!

ApLei Chau to Ap Lei Pai

Hello My Dear Great Ones,
Last Saturday morning was a beauty so Celia and I took advantage, heading out to Hong Island Island.  From there we transferred to another island called Ap Lei Chau.  It is home to one of the most challenging hikes in the SAR.  Ap Lei Chau is connected by a sand spit to  another island called Ap Lei Pai.  To get there you must first climb up a very rough, very steep, rather dangerous trail to get to a point with a massive view.  From there you can see and have access to Ap Lei Pai.

Ap Lei Chau has a very nice promonade along the ocean and has some statures giving homage to the fishermen who once plied their trade there.

The climb up to the point is not for the faint of heart.  Or those out of shape.

Some great views on the way up.

A view of tiny Ap Lei Pai.

Many great views of Hong Kong Island....

 Aberdeen...

 Lamma...

And a junk...

A great hike, great views, lots of fun.

Have a great week.

Love adios and ping on!

Subic Bay

Hello My Dear Great Ones,
Last weekend Celia and I went to Subic Bay, Philippines to check out some homes, see a track meet, and hang with some members of Celia's family.  It was a great time.  Subic Bay is a beautiful spot with great beaches, clean water/air, massive nature reserves, and great people.  It is considered a major sport tourist destination in Asia.  Nearby is Clark, which like Subic Bay was an American army base.  Clark was hosting the South East Asian Games, (mini version of the Olympics, south east asian style,) and we checked it out.  All in all it was a great weekend, and a great way to celebrate Celia's birthday.

Swimming on the roof top pool of our hotel.  Not bad at all.

Some scenery.

Women's two hundred meter final

We witnessed a great triumph as  Kristina Knott (Philippines) set a games record in the 200 m  women's final.

She made the front page of the country's major newspaper the next day.

Subic Bay area in the Philippines.  Pretty sweet.

Have a great week.
