A Walk In Shing Mun

Hello My Dear Great Ones,
Celia and are so fortunate to live on the edge of a 44 000 hectare country park.  It has been great especially during covid.  A welcome respite from staying home all the time.  The other morning Celia and I went for a walk through our "backyard," with a friend.  As usual it was a great work out with plenty of up hills to get you huffin and puffin and covered in sweat.  Here are a few shots of our walk:

Celia.  Best hiking buddy ever!

On. the way to Shing Mun.  This slope has all been cemented in to prevent mud slides.  A common sight in HK.

At the "gate"of Shing Mun Park.  It used to be a hideout for pirates and they actually had a fort.  Hence the faux castle gate.  Kitsch really.

Lots of steps.

Walk along the Shing Mun Reservoir.

A canal collects water rushing down the mountains during a rain storm.

Beautiful...

We went off the road up a rugged trail.

Then it was down a million steps.  People going up were in pain, wondering when their torture would end.

Heading back home.

Have a great week.  Stay healthy and find some green spaces to make your day.

Love adios and ping on!

Wo Yi Hop Chun (Village)

Hello My Dear Great Ones,
Hong Kong is unique in that it really is more of a small territory than a city.  There are numerous villages scattered throughout this "territory."  I live on the edge of one (Wo Yi Hop) which is located at the base of Hong Kong's tallest mountain.  Or more accurately Hong Kong tallest inactive volcano Tai Mo Shan (Tall Cloudy Mountain).  Wo Yi Hop is not the prettiest village, as the following pictures will confirm, but the location is awesome.  Lots of surrounding jungle, hiking trails, and hills makes it a great place to live.   So without further ado here is my adopted village:  Wo Yi Ho Chun.

A grandiose gate up a super steep hill is the entrance of this rather rustic enclave.

A sign showing the way to the village.

Wo Yi Hop is located in the district of Tsuen Wan.

There are no high rises in Wo Yi Hop.  Rather most live in village houses like this.

A view of Wo Yi Hop from our roof top.  In the background is Tsuen Wan which is full of high rises and industries.

The steps leading up to our village house.  Its a nice area with plenty of trees and flowers.

Parking lot.

Here are some other looks at Wo Yi Hop.

So there it is.  Not really beautiful, but in a beautiful spot.  Home sweet home.

Have a great week.

Love adios and ping on!

Some HK Random Pics

Hello Dear Great Ones,

It has been quite the year in HK.  Protests, covid 19, National (in) Security Law, political arrests, international sanctions.  Wow.  It has been heavy in HK.  Yet,  despite all that life carries on and there are plenty of things in Hong Kong to still make you smile and marvel.  Governments, pandemics, political unrest will come and go, but the marvel of sunsets, nature, and the humour of people will always go on.  I am grateful to be in Hong Kong.  I believe God brought me to HK and He has certainly blessed me richly and I am grateful.  So here are a few random pics to show that life moves on and there is always something to smile and be grateful about.

Thank God.

Sunset from our rooftop.  Never gets old.

A Rhino bug.  Amazing.

A view from Tai Mo Shan.

Road up to Tai Mo Shan.

Another sweet sunset.

Celia expressing HK'ers opinion of having to wear masks all the time.  Actually it's a world wide expression.

Another nature/city view.

A random little boat.  Awesome.

Yuen Long at night.  Pretty amazing.

Stay encouraged during this time.  There are plenty of people to encourage, plenty of things to see and do to make life, despite all the negativity, something wonderful to engage in!

Have a great week.

Love adios, and ping on!
